Kapamilya actress Jessy Mendiola has not been visible both in small and big screen for the past few years. She was last seen appearing as a guest star in the longest running television series FPJ's Ang Probinsyano in 2018. Her last regular drama series was the program You're My Home, which ended way back in March 2016. According to the actress, her showbiz career started to dwindle shortly after publicly admitting her relationship with current boyfriend Luis Manzano.

And like every normal working individual, the lack of projects indeed affected Jessy. She admitted herself not long ago that she became impatient after not getting any TV assignments for quite sometime now.

"Siyempre, naiinip po ako. Sino ba naman pong hindi? Pero kung naiinip ka man, e, di gumawa ka ng something productive o puwede mong kabisihan, like, 'yan ang business o kung ano pang medium na puwede mong ipakita ang sarili mo."
Due to the setback that happened in her career, speculations of Jessy going overboard and transferring to the rival network started to surface after the 26 year old actress posted a cryptic message to her social media account in which she said "old ending and new beginnings." There was even a rumor that Mendiola's first project with GMA7 would be "The Better Woman" which stars Andrea Torres and Derek Ramsey. It was further fulled when her boyfriend Luis confirmed that Jessy has already left Star Magic, the management who handled her career ever since it started back in 2007. But just when everything was about to set sail for a new journey in Jessy's career, something came up from ABS CBN.

Last Tuesday, September 24, Mendiola confirmed in an interview that she just cancelled her plan to leave ABS CBN, at least for the time being. This was due to the actress getting the role in the Kapamilya network's upcoming prime time television series "Sandugo".

“Yes po. I just want to set it straight. Yes po, for now...”
Jessy added it was quite difficult for her considering that her character was pitched in a little bit late as the production of the series had already started. She also stated she find the role given to her a bit exciting since it is going to be different compared to the characters she previously portrayed.

“Medyo mahirap for me kasi buo na yung story 'tsaka ongoing na yung taping nila nung pumasok ako.
“So, nung in-explain sa akin yung character habang pitching kami, kalagitnaan nagdadasal ako, ‘Sana gray character. Sana kakaiba siya sa mga ginawa ko.’ Biglang bumagay siya."
"So, nung natapos na yung pitching, yung storytelling… tinanggap ko po. At this point po, gusto ko ring gumawa ng roles po na hindi ko pa nagagawa before and it’s very exciting, to be honest, na gumawa ng roles na hindi mo pa nararanasan."
She also expressed her gratitude towards her home network for giving her a new project. At the end of her interview, Jessy revealed the lessons she learned after being on hiatus for almost three years.
"I’ve realized na it’s important to give balance in your life."
"Pag may mga pagkakataon na yung feeling mo na hindi ka na nagkakaroon ng passion, hindi ka na nagkakaroon ng excitement pag tumatanggap ka ng project, might as well huwag ka na lang tumanggap."
"Kasi siyempre, you won’t be able to give your 100 percent."
"So, it would be really unfair sa mga katrabaho mo, sa mga bosses, sa production."
