Hacking of social media account is nothing new. This kind of illegal online activity has increased in recent years as more and more web based media services becomes available. People from all walks of life, who has an account or record connected to the internet, are susceptible to such intrusion, even celebrities.
Kapuso actress Kris Bernal is one of the latest high profile individuals who recently fell victim to this unlawful act. According to source, her fans and followers were alarmed last September 22 after morning Bernal's Instagram account has started sharing jumbled random posts.
Later that day, the 30 year old Kapuso actress confirmed through Facebook that her official and verified Instagram account has been compromised along with her Twitter and personal email. Kris tried several attempts to retrieve back her Instagram, even going as far as skipping work, but to no avail.
The next day, September 23, it was reported that the people responsible for unauthorized takeover has already contacted Kris and was asking her to pay a hefty amount of money in exchange of returning her Instagram account back. Thru the use of Whatapps, the hacker called the GMA7 actress and demanded $750 or PhP39,150 for them to return what was originally hers.
Bernal cannot help but breakdown upon losing access to her Instagram which currently has around 1.4 million followers. She admitted that it pains her to lose something that she had worked so hard for many years. Kris also shared that although her presence was well known on television, the same cannot be said about her existence on social media.
"It's not as much as others but it took like how many years to get those."

In the end of her message, Kris sought assistance from anyone who can help her retrieve back her account. She also appealed to her fans and followers to continue their support at any event that she have to create a new account.
