In our country, we have a tradition that reunites us in the place where our loved ones laid on rest. Yearly, All Saints Day and All Souls Day is being celebrated by many filipinos as a respect to those people who already passed away. Cleaing their tomb, repainting, and staying all night to the cemetery are some doings during this days.

Today is the season for us to once again look back to our loved ones who has seen better days. As part of the tradition, we always tend to look back on the happy moments of the person, paying tribute, looking back on their history and their doings. Let us recall the local celebrities who has passed away earlier this year.

Pinoy rock icon, Joey 'Pepe' Smith was a pinoy rock star who was part of the successful band, "Juan Dela Cruz." Some of their famous music was, "Beep beep", "Balong Malalim," "Titser's Enemy No.1," "Himig Natin," "No Touch" and "Kahit Anong Mangyari." During his interview last 2017, he said that he would like to believe that his songs were his biggest legacy. He died on January this year and the sad news was delivered by her daughter, Daisy Smith-Owen who posted a farewell message to his dad. Pepe was 71.


Next one is Armida Siguion-Reyna who died at age 88. She was known of having her heart in the art. Aside from being an actress, she was also a singer, actress, and TV-film producer. Siguion passed away in Makati Medical Center due to cancer. She started in cinema and performing arts during her late teens. When she was eight, she appeared in the film, "Yaman ng Mahirap" which directed by Concha. Brave, straightforward and always speaks her mind out, that was how a lot of people will remember about her. She died on February 11, 2019.


Comedian Chokoleit also seen better days this year. The comedian was just 48 when he was announced dead in Abra Provicial Hospital. Before his attack, Chokoleit was in the show in Abra where he was seen singing and later on, had difficulty in breathing. The last performace of him was recorded and uploaded in different social media platfroms where it went viral after the announcement of his death. Chokoleit's close friends were all in shocked in his sudden death.


On June 20 year of the present, multi-awared actor Eduardo "Eddie' Garcia passes away after sufferring from a neck fracture, he was 90. He tripped and fell while shooting a TV series for GMA Network. On a leaked video in Facebook, the actor was seen on the set running, as part of the action, when suddenly he stepped in cable wires causing him to lose his balance and fell into his face. Garcia was a well known actor of all time because of his legacy in his acting career. He spanned nearly 7 decades  with over 600 films. Just days before the incident, he was awarded for the best actor in his film, "ML" during the Gawad Urian awards. He was also seen in the long time running action teleserye, FPJ's Ang Probinsyano.


Film icon Amalia Fuentes has passed away in the age of 79. The actress was reportedly paralyzed and bedridden for the past 4 years. She was rushed to the hospital and succumbed to multiple organ failure. Amalia was lead to fame after winning "Mr. and Ms. Number One," a nationwide talent search launched by "Sampaguita" Pictures in 1956. During her days, she churned out 10 or more films and worked with the most sought-after leading men at the time. She also collaborated with actors Susan Roces, Gloria Romero, Vilma Santos and other big celebrities.


Veteran comedian Garry Lising, 78 was found dead by his son, Bugsy, in his condominium. Lising was an economics graduate from Ateneo De Manila University. He became a part of top-rating gag show, "Champoy." He also released best-selling books, "How Green is Your Mind," "Golf, Erap and Other Four-Letter-Word." In 2013, he Garry was featured in Rated K. He wanted to have another crack at doing comedy. He used to do stand-up comedy acts.


Another comedian, Bentong, who was just 55 also passes away on February due to heart attack. The comedian appeared in many comedy films along with other big celebrities. He was also part of noontime shows, "Magandang Tanghali Bayan" and "Wowowee."


Stalwart of Philippine theater, Tony Mabesa waved goodbye on October with the age of 84. His career spanned 70 years. Mabesa staged dozens of productions over the years. He was both an actor and director with 170 shows to his name. His last role was in the movie, "Rainbow's Sunset" where he played the role of elderly gay lovers along with the late actor Eddie Garcia.


Famous actress of 1930s and 1940s, Mona Lisa, 97, passed away. According to her daughter, she peacefully died in her home, without feeling any pain. Her acting debut during the "Ang Pagbabalik" and did minor roles during her days. Her wake was held in Loyola Memorial Chapels in Sucat.


Sophia Carullo, 6, the youngest of our list, died due to severe dengue. She first appeared in It's Showtime as Mini Me of Anne Curtis. She was part of JAMS artist production. She was last seen in an MMK episode along with the ex-PBB housemate, Yen Santos.
