The debut is a traditional Filipino coming-of-age celebration which celebrates a young woman's 18th birthday, the age of maturity in the Philippines. The debutante customarily throws a large party, complete with her own hand-picked entourage of 18 individuals or what many would call as 18 roses.
This part of the program is one of the highlights of the event. In a traditional setup, the last dance would always be reserve for the father, or a father figure in case of the biological father’s absence. The modern version of the celebration would the father s the first dance and the debutante's special someone, suitor, or her best friend for the last dance.
Bottom line is, the father plays a very important part event whether it is celebrated in a traditional or modern fashion.
Angelina Cruz, eldest daughter of actors Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano, recently had her coming of age birthday celebration last September 24. But instead of the extravagant cotillion type of event, she opted for a much simplier and more intimate gathering with her close friends and family.
Before the party started, Angelina was interviewed by the press during her lauch as a new endorser for Instax Philippines. The debutante was accompanied by her fellow celebrity friends Leila Alcasid and Ylona Garcia.

A few hours later, Angelina's birthday celebration commenced as planned. Several artist from the showbiz industry were present during the event. Close celebrity friends of Angelina and her mother, Sunshine Cruz, were all in attendane.
However, many have noticed that one important figure in Angelina's life was no where to be found in the intimate party; it was none other than her father, and Sunshine's ex-husband Cesar Montano.
The relationship between Sunshine and Cesar has been an open book. Over the course of several years, people have witnessed how their relationship slowly deteriorated. According to source, Cesar's infidelity is largely to blame in the failure of their marriage.
It has been reported that Cesar's relationship to her daughters became affected as well. The girls started to grow distant to the father they once knew. But despite of all that happened, Angelina confirmed that her father has been invited to attend her 18th birthday party.
Cesar himself has yet to release any statement about his apparent absence in her eldest daugther's debut celebration. Some netizens speculated that the actor chosed not to attend the event out of sheer embarrassment after what happened to his once beautiful marriage and family.
