In recent years the Faroes have experienced population decline, with young people leaving, in search of education, and not returning back to their country. According to studeis, women are likely to settle abroad. As a result, as per Prime Minister Axel Johannesen, the Faroes have a “gender deficit” with approximately 2,000 fewer women than men.
With this given situaton, Faroese men tend to look outside their islands in search for romance. Many of the Asian women, though not all, met their husbands online. Some of them through commercial dating sites and other have made connections through their different social media accounts or existing Asian-Faroese couples.
Although the risk of culture shock can be problematic, the weather on Faroe is way more different compared to the Asian countires where we mostly have hot climates, in Faroe, the summer's day would only reach only 16 degeress Celcius.
Based on the reports, Faroe Island is lacking 4% woman of their population. Many of their men wanted to have wives but unfortunately, they are having a hard time looking for a partner to settled with due to gender imbalance.
On another reports, there are already 300 Asian women who migrated to the Faroe Island to live with their boyfriend who they met from different dating sites. In addition to this, Asian group in Faroe are now the lagrgest ethnic minority in 18 islands.
Antonette Eghom, a Pinay who migrated in the island, had been interviewed by BBC and asked her honest opinion regarding this country.
According to Antonette, Faroe people are very friendly although some are hardly understood and speaks English but they are trying their best to communicate with tourists.
Compared in the Philippines, Faroe Island is way more idealistic to live in because of its peaceful community as you can leave your door unlocked without thinking about any negative thoughts to happen. When asked what she loves the most in this country, is the medical and education services quality is quite more better from what we have in our country.
"There’s a shortage of women in the Faroe Islands. So local men are increasingly seeking wives from further afield – Thailand and the Philippines in particular," she said.
While in our country, some women are crying over men, Faroe is in need of women who they can settled with.
