Kapamilya actor James Reid finally gave an answer to recent speculations on social media that he will be leaving his home network ABS CBN to transfer to its rival station, GMA7. The rumor began to circulate after the 26 year old singer/ actor decided not to renew anymore his contract with Viva Artists Agency, his talent management for more than 7 long years.
In an exclusive interview by the Philippine Star, Reid was in all smiles as he denied the gossip that he's transferring to GMA7. He added that the reason why he choose not renew his contract with Viva was to explore other important aspects of his showbiz life of work particularly his music career.
"No, it’s not."
"I just didn’t renew. You know, I’m focusing on other things now."
Reid also refuted the rumors that his father will now be managing him. Instead, he said that his career in now in his own hands under Careless Music Manila, the record label James himself established last year.
"But I'm focusing a lot on my record label right now. I want to give it a chance. I want to see how far I can take my music. And I have big plans for it."
Her fans and followers however cannot help but be concern now that James is technically a free agent. His perennial love team and girlfriend in real life Nadine Lustre is still under the management of both Viva and Star Magic. Many are worried that the shift in his career might be the end of his working relationship with Nadine.
Reid nonetheless assured them that all is well between him and Lustre and the couple would still be working together.
"It hasn't been affected at all right now. We're still working together."
We're all on good terms which is great. I just have a bit more freedom now, that's all."
James Reid has been with Viva Artist Agency since 2012 after being managed by Star Magic for two years. Under their management, he top billed several successful movies such as "Diary ng Panget," "Never Not Love You," and "Miss Granny". Eventhough his focus will start to shift from making tv series and movies into the music scene, James was positive that he will still be doing acting and such.
"I still plan to do big movies. I'm not giving up show business or anything. I still plan to do movies. I'm just waiting for the right project."
